Burt’s Bees | Intense Hydration Bloggers Tea Party

06:46

It is with great pleasure that I bring you along with me to Burt's Bees very first Bloggers Tea Party! I was offered this fantastic chance thanks to Michelle from CoquettishMish and Irene from Burt's Bees. When I saw the invitation in my inbox, me, being the skincare buff & eager supporter for all things natural I was, how could I possibly have refused?

The Tea Party centers around the newly Malaysia-launched Intense Hydration range. With the dryness-resilient plant, Clary Sage, taking center-stage, paired with an ensemble of natural and nutrient-rich supporting actors such as Bitter Orange peel extract and butters of the Mafura, Cupuacu, Kokum & Tucuma variant, this range promises to moisturise  and eradicate your skin of pesky fine lines & wrinkles all at once!

Outside Malaysia, the US is no stranger to Burt's Bees fantastic range of moisturising products, this included. A much-loved addition to Birchbox Finds, the Intense Hydration day cream was well-received for its scent and texture but does it deliver in terms of functionality? Read on to find out!
Spoiler alert: It does.

Now before we dive into the product, let me just take a moment to talk about the venue because it was just that delightful. (Don't worry, I won't take too long!)

The event was held in the lovely relatively-new concept cafe, Cosans Coffee, in trendy Solaris Mont Kiara. Known to be quite "Instagram-friendly" - as some reviwers have coined it - the warm lighting, brick walls and delightfully chic music set the perfect tone for a bloggers' day out.

If you're one to fall for cafe aesthetics consisting of but not limited to: incandescent light bulbs, large windows, and lots and lots of wood...

...or really gorgeous scenes like below:

Then I highly recommend you give this lovely place a visit!

A bit about the Bee
To most beauty enthusiasts, the name Burt's Bees is synonymous with point-moisturising products such as hand salves, foot therapies and their ever-raved about lip balms. Not only are their products effective, but they also follow an all-natural ethos, utilising minimal & eco-friendly processing such as distillation & condensation, extraction & steaming and so on, to ensure that you get the most out of Mother Nature in her purest form. They even have a "Natural Bar" on each of their products just so you know how much "real stuff" is going onto your skin.

Essentially... Extra Virgin Lip balm.

I like it.

Today, however, Clary Sage takes center-stage while their namesake beeswax takes a few paces back. Heralding from the fiercely dry Mediterranean hills, Clary Sage has a flower that perseveres and literally blooms in adversity. Its buds are commonly harvested for its essential oils, which is extensively used in aromatherapy for its anti-anxiety and female-friendly (period cramp calming & PMS alleviating) properties as well as the perfume industry.

A feel-good natural ingredient, through-and-through.

The significance of it being chosen to be the main character for this dryness-dispelling skincare range is the fact that Clary Sage is resilient to dryness. To be more precise, it actually embraces dry weather. Not only does this say great things about its moisture retention power as a skincare ingredient but also, from a more humanitarian standpoint, doesn't this mean drought-stricken areas can now benefit from agriculture?

Yet another great step towards future sustainability. I'm all up for it!

The entire range contains probiotic technology, which is already prevalent in many skincare products for its anti-aging properties, gentle exfoliating power and ability to reduce inflammation & skin redness. I can personally vouch for the benefits of slathering live cultures on my face. My staple yoghurt mask was my daily saviour for winter flakes and aches.

Also, let me take this moment to mention that all the products are non-comedogenic (meaning they don't clog up your pores, which is good because clogged up pores = acne), dermalogist tested and 99% natural (the 1% being FDA-approved natural preservatives).

I was actually very relieved when I found out that this range was reaching Malaysian shores as my skin was still very sensitive from "the London incident". It easily succumbs to dryness when I try to transition out of the cream moisturiser & hyaluronic-acid-heavy regime I'm on now, and I have to resort to gently exfoliating my face almost twice a week to ensure my makeup doesn't look flakey. It's quite disheartening to say the least.

So now that you know that my skin is in ideal conditions for a moisture boost (which ironically is not ideal because it's dry and unhappy...) I hope that you'll be keeping an eye out for my future reviews!

But first, let me just take this moment to thank Burt's Bees from the bottom of my heart for this lovely gift-bag to try out and review! If you're curious, it includes the full sized Treatment Mask and travel-sized Cream Cleanser & Day Cream. Also, the gorgeous eco-bag & super soft face towel are great additions to my ever-growing collection of all things jute-coloured and cute.

Did I also mention that there was a tank-top-designing competition and I won one of the lovely goodie hampers you saw in the first picture? In this, I received a full-sized Cream Cleanser and sample sizes of their Day Cream, Treatment Mask & Night Cream!

PS. The theme of the design was "What does Burt's Bees mean to you?"

I know what you're thinking: With all these products, it would be heinous if I didn't do a review of the Intense Hydration range! And let me just commend you on how true that is! As of this moment, I have actually already tried out the cleanser and moisturisers but let's wait for the review post, shall we?

There might even be a giveaway involved~
